Importance of Picking the Right Niche

Now before you let out a loud SIGH this isn’t going to be yet another generic post that just says “pick a niche.” Tricked you. Yes it is.

Today I have realised something that I have been wondering for a very long about why it was happening. Regular readers of this blog will know that I have been struggling with my efficiency and trying to pump out enough content each day.

What did I work out today? That if you are in the right niche, doing something you love then you will be much better off. Sounds pretty simple doesn’t it?

The results are astounding. While in the past weeks I have been slaving away each day to only finish up with 3-4 articles written and left wondering why i didn’t get much done; it has now suddenly hit me. I’m not that interested in writing about it.

In the last 24 hours I have kicked off my Australian gambling site. That involves covering a lot of sport – something that I have always loved. I read sport news every day so it is only fitting that I write about it too. I am passionate about it and it shows in my writing.

In the past 24 hours I have written 16 news posts and this is my 2nd blog post. While news posts are a lot easier to write than strategy because they are shorter and don’t require as much research; my work rate has improved remarkably.

While we are all here to make money and enter a niche that doesn’t have much competition etc etc – it can never be underestimated that you have to be passionate about it.

I really do hope people that are reading this take something away from it; rather than the ‘pick a niche” BS. Think about whether you are doing something that you love and whether you can see yourself doing it long term. You will be surprised at what you are capable of.

Excuse me – I have some more writing to do :)

This is sooooo true.

I actually find it easier to write fairly advanced poker strategy articles than news, since strategy interest me infinitely more than news or a 800 word article about the “PokerStars marketing code”.

Writing about a topic you like does also add some extra value, since you will most likely enjoy it much more than something that you find boring – And in the “real world” most people does sacrifice some potential income in order to work with things we enjoy, or at least dislike less than other ways to earn money.

How true Hazo!
I have just checked my stats, and I have to say that the content I wrote just for fun, or I enjoyed writing has the highest clickthrough numbers (and I guess the highest converting ratio – I cannot see it in every program’s tracking system, but most of them where I made a campaign or different tracking ID shows it!)
I know that there are content items that has to be written for the clear understanding, but I don’t feel it a failure if I just can’t get those articles engaging.
Maybe that is the reason I can write max. 3-4 articles a day for example about a casino/bingo review – i need to download, try out, deposit, play, etc at the casino/bingo to write an interesting article about it with a personal tone.

Totally agree, I started a sports site not along ago and find it a lot easier to write for that than anything else because that’s what I’m most passionate about.
